Day 5 - Skaftafell National Park and  glacial lagoon Jökulsárlón at Breiðamerkursandi

Continuing  East on the Ring Road along the Southern Coast. The  Vatnajökull ice-cap owns this part of Iceland with glaciers plowing towards the sea. The weather changes regularly but never gets  particularly good.  

  • Our first real view of a tiny part of the Vatnajökull Ice Cap.
  • Jökulsárlón glacial lagoon and welcoming sky, Iceland.
  • Jökulsárlón lagoon with glaciers behind. The ice bergettes collect here and eventually are washed out to the Atlantic.
  • Icebergs floating in the Atlantic.
  • Beach bergs and temporary blue sky.
  • We sit on beached iceberg remains wearing all that we brought and wishing we brought just a little more.
