• Occasionally, a volcano will erupt under the Vatnajökull ice-cap and massive floods, called glacial bursts, result. The duration of such an event is limited but at peak volume the resulting catastrophic flooding can rival the flow of the worlds largest rivers. At least we don't have to worry about sheep on the road.

Day 5 ends at  Höfn

Höfn  is  the main town and harbor of the Southeast. It's Andrea's birthday. We eat at the local hotel  restaurant. It's either pizza or lamb. We enjoy a 16" pizza. Andrea has 500 ml of Viking beer and I  finally get to drive.
